M8 Repairs to take another 2 Years

August 29, 2025

Major roadworks on the M8 through Glasgow city centre are now expected to continue for another two years.

Temporary repairs on the Woodside Viaduct, close to Charing Cross, have already been ongoing for more than four years. The project has forced the busy stretch of motorway – which carries around 150,000 vehicles daily – to operate with just two lanes instead of four, with several slip roads also closed.

The completion date, which has been pushed back multiple times, is now set for the latter half of 2027.
