Rail Disruption

December 31, 2024

The main railway line in the Highlands has been closed due to heavy rainfall and hazardous water levels. Rail services between Inverness and Perth have been suspended, with several weather warnings issued nationwide.

The northwestern and central Highlands are forecasted to experience the heaviest downpours, with a Met Office amber alert in effect from midnight until 5:00 PM.

Network Rail reported managing 15 flooding incidents on the Far North Line, alongside a landslip near Brora.
