Two new digital zones are open, providing residents, partners and local organisations with access to the latest technology and resources to improve digital skills and confidence.
The zones are located in the libraries at the Buchanan Centre in Coatbridge and Chryston Cultural Centre.
They were set up as a pilot project following recent public consultation, which attracted 630 responses from residents across North Lanarkshire with a range of digital skills and experience.
Respondents expressed interest in using digital zones with free Wi-Fi, printing, scanning, devices for online courses, and public services. They also wanted staff support and the option to book a space or drop in.
As a result, each zone has modern digital infrastructure, including free high-speed internet, digital resources, printers, and public computers.
There is also adaptive technology including large monitors, optical mice, noise-cancelling headphones, and voice recognition software.
Residents can drop in or book a space through phone, email, or online methods at both libraries.
“We are excited to launch these Digital Zones and bring the benefits of digital connectivity to our community,” said Cllr Geraldine Woods, Convener of the Communities Committee.
“This initiative is a testament to our commitment to digital inclusion and innovation, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in the digital age.”
