Pupils from North Lanarkshire Shine

December 16, 2025

Talented pupils from across North Lanarkshire came together at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall for the annual Schools Christmas Concert, organised by the North Lanarkshire Instrumental Music Service.

The event, held in the concert hall’s new auditorium, featured a diverse programme that highlighted the musical talent and commitment of young people in the area.

Performances included traditional Scottish piping from the North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band, lively jazz arrangements by the Big Band, and seasonal favourites from the Wind Band, Wind Ensemble, and the Collective Primary School Choir.

Pieces ranged from festive classics such as Sleigh Ride and Away in a Manger to contemporary selections like Thunderstruck and Pirates of the Caribbean.

The concert, which took place on Friday 5 December, was supported by a dedicated team of instrumental instructors, classroom teachers, and volunteers, whose efforts ensured a smooth and enjoyable evening for all.

Councillor Jim Logue, Leader of North Lanarkshire Council, attended the event. He said: “It was a really special evening, and the programme reflected both the talent of our pupils and the breadth of musical opportunities available to them in North Lanarkshire — from traditional Scottish music to jazz and orchestral repertoire.”

The evening concluded with Flower of Scotland and Auld Lang Syne, and the audience showed their appreciation a wonderful evening, which was enjoyed by all.
