Falkirk Council area face a huge increase of 15.6% in their bills from next month as the struggling local authority attempts to balance its budget.

The minority SNP administration had proposed a slightly more modest 13.7 per cent increase – but a Labour proposal of 15.6 per cent was approved, after an independent councillor voted in favour of their plans.
