North Lanarkshire Council has approved an expansion of its council housing supply programme, aiming to deliver 6,000 homes by 2035.
The local authority’s Housing Committee has agreed to increase the target by 1,000 homes.
These homes will be provided through various methods, including traditional new builds, off-the-shelf purchases, and the council’s Open Market Purchase Scheme. So far, approximately 1,581 new homes have been completed, with a record 335 delivered last year—the second-highest number of social rented homes completed in Scotland.
