Celebrating Robert Burns: Scotland’s National Poet

January 25, 2025

Today, we celebrate Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet, born on 25 January 1759 in Alloway. Known for classics like Auld Lang Syne and Tam o’ Shanter, his works reflect themes of love, friendship, and Scottish pride.

Burns Night has been celebrated since the early 1800s with traditional suppers featuring haggis, neeps, tatties, and whisky, alongside recitals of his poetry.
