South Lanarkshire Tragedy: Arrest Made After Elderly Woman’s Death

A tragic incident unfolded in South Lanarkshire, where a 49-year-old woman has been arrested for assault following the death of a 78-year-old woman in Hamilton. Police were called to Gilmour Drive at around 20:25 on Wednesday after reports of a serious injury. Despite their efforts, the elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland has stated that the death is being treated as unexplained, pending the results of a post-mortem examination. A spokesperson reassured the community, saying:
“Officers remain at the scene, and anyone with any concerns can approach these officers. Inquiries are ongoing.”
