The captain of a cargo ship involved in a collision with an oil tanker in the North Sea has been charged with gross negligence manslaughter.
Vladimir Motin, 59, from Primorsky, St Petersburg, Russia, has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Hull Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, according to Humberside Police.
The incident occurred around 10:00 GMT on Monday, when the Portuguese-flagged Solong and the US-registered tanker Stena Immaculate collided off the East Yorkshire coast.
The Crown Prosecution Service has identified Mark Angelo Pernia, a 38-year-old Filipino national and crew member of the Solong, as missing and presumed dead.
