Harry’s Icy Challenge for Beatson Cancer Charity

March 1, 2025

Tomorrow, on Sunday 2nd March, young Harry Hughes from East Kilbride will take on an icy challenge in the freezing waters of Irvine Beach to raise funds for Beatson Cancer Charity.

The 11-year-old will be facing the cold alongside his mum, Karen Hughes, and her colleagues from Wholesale Domestic.

Harry was especially determined to take on this challenge as his grandpa, Karen’s dad, recently underwent radiotherapy following a cancer diagnosis. His participation is a heartfelt tribute to his grandpa’s strength and resilience, as well as a show of support for others facing similar battles.

Speaking about his decision, Harry said: “I chose to do a cold water dip because it’s tough and really, really cold, but I know what my grandpa is going through.”

The team will brave the icy waters, embracing the freezing temperatures in solidarity with those affected by cancer. Their efforts are driven by a personal connection to the cause and a shared dedication to making a difference.

Anyone wishing to support Harry, Karen, and the team in their challenge can donate via their fundraising page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/wdbforbeatson
