January 24, 2025

A man has tragically lost his life during Storm Eowyn after authorities first presumed he was struck by falling roof tiles. Emergency services were called to East Road, Irvine, at approximately 10:10 am today, Friday, 24th January, following reports of an unresponsive man.

The 49-year-old was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, and his family has been informed by police. His death was initially reported by National Media as a tragic accident caused by the storm but police have now since confirmed this was a medical matter and not caused by the storm.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
