Blaze at Whifflet Flats

Emergency services and more than 4 dozen firefighters have descended upon the flats at Whifflet Coatbridge to tackle a blaze this morning. 

Residents were evacuated in the early hours today, Friday 19th December as fire crews with 12 appliances including specialist services raced to the scene. 

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to the scene on Calder Court in the town at around 6.45am on Friday to the fire within the flats.

Images from the scene showed a number of flats on fire with residents being evacuated outside the entrance. At time of writing the blaze is still being tackled.
