Trading standards officers have seized almost 600 counterfeit Labubu Dolls which can pose a serious danger to children.
Over a two-week period 42 premises from across South Lanarkshire were visited with a total of 588 dolls seized.
Councillor Robert Brown, the Chair of the council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, said: “We understand these dolls are a much sought after item. However, they pose a potential safety risk to young children.
“We strongly suggest you do not purchase a Labubu Doll from anywhere other than official stockists.
“These counterfeit toys may seem to be a bargain compared to the cost of a genuine toy, but we urge parents not to put cost before the safety of your child”
Counterfeit goods are often made from toxic materials, leaving the user exposed to harmful chemicals. And as safety checks are not carried out on these items, there are potential choking hazards as small parts can easily be detached.
If you or your child have bought one of these products from a South Lanarkshire trader, you should return the item for a full refund or dispose of it safely out of reach of children.
