Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts — temperatures are expected to rise above 20°C across Lanarkshire today. But don’t be fooled by the calm, as change is on the way.
Cloud cover will increase later this afternoon, followed by showers tonight as winds gradually strengthen. A sharp drop in air pressure overnight signals the arrival of much rougher weather.
Monday is now being labelled a major weather event, with the Met Office upgrading warnings to amber for much of Scotland as Storm Floris approaches.
The warning, in place from 10:00am to 10:00pm on Monday, predicts torrential rain and unusually strong gale-force winds, posing a danger to life with the risk of damage to buildings, trees, and travel disruption.
National Rail has advised that speed restrictions, delays and cancellations are likely, while CalMac has already issued ferry cancellation alerts ahead of the storm’s arrival.
If you can, take a moment this afternoon or evening to secure your garden — tie down loose items and prepare for wild conditions.
Stay safe, Lanarkshire!
