New River Clyde Bridge Opens: A Milestone for Connectivity

May 10, 2025

A significant milestone was achieved on Friday, May 9, as the New River Clyde Bridge officially opened, linking Renfrew and Yoker. This £117 million project is the first new vehicle crossing over the Clyde since 2006, aiming to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.

The bridge, featuring a moveable structure to accommodate shipbuilding activities upstream, was inaugurated with a ceremony attended by local residents and schoolchildren. Its completion is expected to ease traffic congestion and provide new opportunities for businesses and commuters alike.

With improved access between communities, the bridge stands as a testament to ongoing efforts in regional development and infrastructure enhancement.
