Magnitude 2.2 Earthquake Hits Oban, Scotland

Residents in Scotland were woken by “loud bangs” early on Wednesday morning after an earthquake struck Argyll and Bute.

The British Geological Survey (BGS) confirmed that the tremor occurred at approximately 3:03 am, registering a magnitude of 2.2 on the Richter scale.

According to BGS, the earthquake’s epicentre was located 5km east of Oban.

Locals described feeling their homes shake and hearing deep rumbling noises.
