Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has sent a letter to Google, urging the company to reconsider its decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico.
The change follows an executive order signed by US President Donald Trump during his first week in office, requiring the body of water—bordered by the US, Cuba, and Mexico—to be renamed the Gulf of America.
However, the new name will only appear on Google Maps for users in the US, while the rest of the world will continue to see its historic name, which has been in use for centuries.
