Absolutely tragic news from Turkey. At least 66 people have died in a fire that swept through a popular ski resort hotel, forcing some to leap from windows to escape.

The horrific blaze erupted at 03:27 local time (00:27 GMT) at the 12-storey, wooden-clad Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu, during a busy holiday period when 234 guests were staying there.

Initially, the death toll stood at 10, but Turkey’s interior ministry later confirmed a significant increase. At least two fatalities were reported from individuals attempting to jump to safety.
