Evening Sky Show: How to View Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and More

February 25, 2025

Skywatchers are in for a rare spectacle this week as seven planets—Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, Mercury, and Saturn—briefly align in the evening sky.

This celestial event, known as a ‘planetary parade,’ won’t be seen again with such clarity until 2040. The best opportunity to catch a glimpse of as many planets as possible will be just after sunset on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Four planets—Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Mars—will be visible to the naked eye, while Saturn may be more challenging to spot as it will be low on the horizon. A telescope will be necessary to observe Uranus and Neptune.
