Kings Coronation Medals Awarded to Lanarkshire First Responders

February 22, 2025

Community First Responders from a number of Lanarkshire groups were presented with Kings Coronation Medals by the Scottish Ambulance Service. South Lanarkshire Councillor, Ward Chair, Catherine McClymont joined the presentation service.

Community First Responders attend 999 calls on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service in the communities that they live & work in.

The volunteers attend immediate life threatening injuries and illness, providing community based lifesaving treatment until the arrival of an Ambulance.

The organisations represented cover an area of Lanarkshire towns & village boundaries from Fauldhouse to Larkhall, Lesmahagow to Biggar and the communities surrounding Lanark.

The voluntary organisations receive no central funding from National or Local Authorities, relying on local businesses and communities to support the good work of the volunteers.

Donations to the First Responder groups provides the volunteers with uniforms, life saving equipment, training equipment and let’s the Community First Responders deliver community based AED & CPR awareness sessions.

In attendance at this event on 12th February at Carluke Community Fire Station were
•South Lanarkshire Councillor, Ward Chair, Catherine McClymont
•Claire Duijnisveld Community Resilience Paramedic Team Leader Scottish Ambulance Service
