A gifted schoolgirl is soaring with pride after her artistic design was selected as the new symbol of Bothwell, becoming the first official flag for any town or village in Lanarkshire.
Ava McBain’s ingenious design, featuring Bothwell Castle and the nearby river surrounded by meaningful local colours, won a public vote to become the area’s new flag. It now flies proudly above the historic 14th-century parish church, a prominent local landmark.
