Weather Outlook

January 2, 2025

Some cold temperatures have arrived in Lanarkshire.

The Met Office has now issued a yellow weather warning for ice covering all of Scotland as temperatures drop. Scattered snow showers expected over the next few days with some severe minus temperatures expected at night next week.

Meantime, this evening (Thursday) and the start of the night will continue clear, but later on areas of cloud and scattered sleet and snow showers will develop from the north. Turning drier by dawn though. A cold night.

Friday

Staying cold tomorrow, but it should be another dry and bright day with plenty of winter sunshine about.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday

Saturday will be a mainly dry and cold day with bright spells. Turning cloudier later in the day before an area of sleet and snow pushes in from the south overnight, along with increasing winds. Sunday will continue breezy with heavy, drifting snow persisting through most of the day. The snow will break up overnight. Monday will be mainly dry and cold with winter sunshine.

Snow and ice is expected to cause disruption across the north of the country, and further snow warnings have been issued for south-east Scotland later in the week.
