Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations have been cancelled due to “extreme weather” concerns. Organisers announced that high winds have forced the cancellation of all events scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, including a concert by the rock band Texas in Princes Street Gardens.
The city’s iconic street party and fireworks display were also called off for public safety reasons, following yellow weather warnings for wind and rain issued by the Met Office for Tuesday.
Additionally, strong winds on Sunday resulted in the cancellation of the traditional Torchlight Procession, which typically marks the start of the Hogmanay festivities.
